Sushma Koirala Memorial Trust believes in the polycentric approach to development. Although economic development is the most crucial aspect of  human life, development in the realms of art, literature, music and academics is equally  vital for our cultural and intellectual empowerment. Hence, from time to time, the Trust has been organizing art shows, concerts, conferences and talk programs in various disciplines to promote interdisciplinary activities.

The  major development  activities of Sushma Koirala Memorial Trust are grassroots centered. As far as the Government of  Nepal is concerned, rural people are placed in the center of its development programs.

It is with the basic of sharing information on ongoing development activities at the grassroots level in Nepal with all concerned from grassroots workers to policy makers and development activists that the ‘journal’ Grassroots Development has been launched.

At the same time ,the journal would also include grassroots level activities from the region of South Asia. The journal aims to act as a forum for interaction among development students, teachers, scholars and grassroots workers by holding workshops, seminars and talk programs as well.

To give a distinct identity to the journal, poems and articles on literature, art, music and films showing development concerns would also be included.
