The accumulative knowledge, wisdom, experience and achievements of the human civilization are best recorded in books. Therefore a library has its own importance in our life. It is indispensable for any knowledge seekers.

Keeping this in view, Sushma Koirala Memorial Trust had come up with a library project titled "SUSHMA KOIRALA MEMORIAL EASTERN DEVELOPMENT REGION CENTRAL LIBRARY PROJECT". The project was completed in 1995 and the library is housed in the premises of Adarsh Balika Higher Secondary School, Biratnagar, under the management of the school.

The main sponsors of this project were the Embassy of Japan and Embassy of India in terms of the library building, donation of books, equipment and other materials including furniture.
