The accumulative knowledge, wisdom, experience and achievements of the human civilization are best recorded in books. Therefore a library has its own importance in our life. It is indispensable for any knowledge seekers.

Keeping this in view, Sushma Koirala Memorial Trust had come up with a library project titled "Sushma Koirala Memorial Eastern Development Region Central Library project" The project was completed in 1995 and the library is housed in the premises of Adarsh Balika Higher Secondary School, Biratnagar, under the management of the school.

The main sponsors of this project were the embassy of Japan and Embassy of India in terms of the library building, donation of books, equipment and other materials including furniture.

Other donor agencies also supported this project by donating books. Today, this Sushma Koirala Memorial Library is a pride institution of the eastern development region.

Keeping the importance of libraries at the grassroots level, the Trust has encouraged the establishment of community libraries in several village development committees of Sunsari district, which are looked after by the concerned community.
